Survey of terroristic attacks on journalists and translators carried out by Albanian separatists in autonomous region of Kosovo and Metohia between January 1st and October 31st 1998.

PRENTIC DRAGUTIN - journalist of Pristina's "Jedinstvo"

On May 6th 1998 at 22:10 in village of Meja, municipality of Djakovica, family house of Prentic Dragutin, journalist - correspondent of Pristina's "Jedinstvo", was attacked from automatic fire weapon by the terrorists. There were no injured in this attack.

MILOSIN LJUBOMIR (1960) AND GEC JOVANA (1969) correspondents of "AFP" and "Associated Press" from Belgrade

On May 11th 1998, around 10:30 in village of Djurdjica, municipality of Glogovac, two armed Albanian terrorists stopped the vehicle mark "Land rover" with correspondents Milosin and Gec inside. After checking their identity and search the terrorists allowed them to go on with their trip towards Klina.

BORIS GREGOR KALNOKU (1961), journalist of German "Die Welt" and SUZAN SIMON (1964), journalist of German daily "Berliner Norgenpost", both from Budapest, citizens of USA, as well as the reporters of weekly "Die Zeit", OTMAR JOACHIM JENNER (1956) and WOLFGANG BELLWINKEL (1959), German citizens.

On May 24th 1998 at 19:30 at the entrance to Kosovska Mitrovica, from the direction of Pec, two armed terrorists in a "Volkswagen Golf", registration KM 48-54, blocked the road in front of all-terrain "Nissan" vehicle with Hungarian registration with previously mentioned journalists inside. They took away their passports, searched them and then accompanied them by force to Kosovska Mitrovica, where they left them near green market.

"WTN" TV REPORTERS

In May this year Albanian terrorists stopped the vehicle near Komoran with Srdan Spanovic, reporter of Croatian "Jutarnji List", and his colleague from Czechia, physically mistreated him, putting the rifle barrel in his mouth and after several hours of "treatment" they took away his money and equipment and than released him.

MITIN SERGEJ (1972) reporter of Moscow "Izvestia"

On July 17th 1998 at 15:00 hours on the Glogovac - Srbica road near village of Trstenik, municipality of Glogovac, three armed Albanian terrorists stopped passenger vehicle "Golf Polo" with Belgrade registration, with Russian citizen Mitin Sergej (1972), journalist of Moscow "Izvestia", as a driver. They physically mistreated him, took away his vehicle, removed the film from his camera and moved away.

OLEG SAFIULI (1965), GALANOV ALEXANDER (1953) AND MAMAEV VICTOR (1974), reporters of Russian national TV and HOTI SABAN, translator from Pristina

On July 21st 1998 around 11:00 on the Pristina - Pec main road in village of Lapusnik, municipality of Glogovac, reporters of Russian national TV Oleg Safiuli (1965), Galanov Alexander (1953), Mamaev Victor (1974) and Hoti Saban (1945), translator and retired employee of the Ministry of Interior and professor of Russian, were attacked by the terrorists. reporters were released around 19:30 and their cameras and recorded material were taken away. Albanian terrorists kept Hoti Saban in custody, whose destiny is uncertain.

REPORTER OF "FRANCE PRESS" and translator NORE LJAMOJE from Pristina

On August 12th 1998 around 10:00 on the village road Zrze - Ratkovac in village of Zrze, municipality of Orahovac, an armored jeep with French registration, with reporter of "France Press" from France and Nore Ljamoje from Pristina inside, was attacked from automatic weapon by the terrorists. There were no injured.

REPORTER of Japanese agency "Kjodo"

In August this year, on Zrze - Ratkovac road in village of Zrze, municipality of Orahovac, vehicle of the Japanese reporter of "Kjodo" was stopped. On that occasion Albanian terrorists mistreated and molested him and them took away his bullet-proof vest.

"Royters" CAMERAMAN

In August this year Albanian terrorists took away recorded material from the "Royters" cameraman near village of Iglarevo, municipality of Klina, and left him on the road near this village.

SLAVUJ DJURO (1958), reporter of RTV Pristina and driver PERENIC RANKO (1958) On August 21st 1998, on the road to Zociste, municipality of Orahovac, near the place Brestovacke Sume, Albanian terrorists kidnapped the reporter of RTV Pristina Slavuj Djuro, refugee from Croatian Republic with residence in Kosovo Polje, and driver Perenic from Pristina. In a protest to all that, reporter's wife Sofija Slavuj begun the hunger strike.

PETKO KOPRIVICA, reporter of TV Novi Sad, RADOSLAV JAKSIC, cameraman, DRAGUTIN PRENTIC, reporter of "Jedinstvo" and correspondent for "Tanjug" from Djakovica and driver ZORAN LUZAJIC

On August 24th 1998, on the road between the village of Korenica and the village of Ramoc, municipality of Djakovica, beside the Yugoslav-Albanian border, Albanian terrorists attacked the team of TV Novi Sad, Koprivica Petko and Jaksic Radoslav, and reporter of Pristina "Jedinstvo" Dragutin Prentic and driver Zoran Luzajic. Thanks to police presence of mind, the terroristic gang was driven away. On that occasion two policemen were wounded, and none of the reporters were injured.

DOBRICIC VLADIMIR AND RADOSEVIC NEBOJSA, reporters of "Tanjug"

On October 18th 1998 at 12:00 on the Pristina - Magura road, municipality of Lipljan, Albanian terrorists kidnapped Dobricic Vladimir (1948) from Belgrade and Radosevic Nebojsa (1966) from Pristina, reporters of "Tanjug". They were on an assignment in a "Yugo Florida" and moving toward the village of Magura. Terroristic attacks on the members of humanitarian organizations in the area of autonomous Kosovo and Metohia region between January 1st and October 31st 1998.

Humanitarian organization "Echo" (convoy of 7 vehicles and 11 persons) On March 26th 1998, around 13:00 in village of Makrmalj, municipality of Srbica, a group of 30 disguised and armed terrorists stopped the 7 vehicle and 11 persons convoy, transporting humanitarian help of the Humanitarian organization "Echo" for the village of Likovac, municipality of Srbica. After withholding, around 14:00, the terrorists returned the convoy to Srbica.

TWO VEHICLES OF "RED CROSS"

On July 7th 1998, around 13:35, in village of Prilep, municipality of Decani, two vehicles of Red Cross, registrations 10-E-06 and BG 723-RP, were attacked from automatic weapon by the terrorists. After the attack they returned in Pec. There were no injured.

MARLEEN GRAVEN from Netherlands, member of humanitarian organization "Medicins sans frontiers"

On July 23rd 1998, Marlene Graven, citizen of Netherlands, as a responsible person of humanitarian organization "Medicins sans frontiers", reported to Secretariat in Pec that on the same day around 11:00 in the village of Loda, municipality of Pec, three Albanian terrorists armed with automatic rifles, had placed the barricade of trees and stopped the passenger vehicle "Toyota land cruiser", property of previously mentioned humanitarian organization. The driver of the vehicle was Esat Malji from Pec. After brief interrogation of Graven, Albanian terrorists took away previously mentioned vehicle VOZ110.

The vehicle of INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS COMMITTEE

On September 30th 1998, at 09:30, on the road between the village of Gornje Obrinje, municipality of Glogovac, and the village of Likovac, municipality of Srbica, a vehicle of the International Red Cross Committee from Switzerland, a "Toyota jeep", with Margaret Bryson (1952) from New Zealand behind the wheel, came across a contact mine placed by Albanian terrorists while retreating from this region. In the explosion Spetim Robaj (1957), anesthesiologist in IRCC from Pristina lost his life. Margaret Bryson, Tolaj Ilir (1961) from Djakovica and Linda Bunjaku (1963) from Pristina, also employees of the IRCC, were slightly injured.

1. TAKAKO UGAJA, Japanese embassy attaché in FR of Yugoslavia


Attacked Japanese embassy vehicle
On April 27th 1998, around 13:15, on Srbica - Klina road in the village of Lausa, municipality of Srbica, Albanian terrorists attacked with automatic weapon a diplomatic vehicle "Toyota land cruiser", registration 86-A-21 CD, with Japanese citizen Tagako Ugaja, Japanese embassy attaché in Yugoslavia, behind the wheel. Diplomatic vehicle was hit by two missiles, but Tagako Ugaja was left uninjured.

AMERICAN INFORMATION CENTER IN PRISTINA

On August 26ht 1998, around 21:10 in Pristina, Albanian terrorists threw "Molotov cocktail" at the American Information Center building. The fire caught the bulding but there were no injured.

DIPLOMATIC MONITORING MISSION OF USA AND RUSSIA

On September 9th 1998 near the village of Pagarusa, on the road between Malisevo and Orahovac, Albanian terrorists stopped the vehicles with members of diplomatic monitoring missions from USA and Russia and mistreated them verbally and frightened them for more than 40 minutes. After an agile intervention and warning by the members of mission, they were released.

DIPLOMATIC MONITORING MISSION OF CANADA

On September 14th 1998, at 12:15 in the village of Likovac, municipality of Srbica, a "Chevrolet", property of Canadian embassy in Belgrade, with three members of diplomatic monitoring mission for Kosovo and Metohia inside, came across a antitank mine placed by Albanian terrorists. Mine explosion overturned the vehicle. One member of the mission was slightly injured. The vehicles was heavily damaged.
