US, British warplanes again violate Iraq airspace

Baghdad, Jan. 3, INA

The U.S and British warplanes carried out on Wednesday 12 sorties from Saudi airspace, backed by an AWACS, and 10 sorties from Kuwaiti airspace.

A spokesman for Iraqi Air Defense Command said that the warplanes flew over areas of al-Bisiya, al-Jiliba, al-lasif, as-Salman, Ashbicha and Artawi, southern Iraq. The warplanes returned back to their bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Since December 17, 1998 up to January 2, 2002, the enemy warplanes carried out a total of 36280 sorties from Saudi, Kuwaiti and Turkish airspace, of which 17,266 sorties from Saudi airspace and10924 sorties from Kuwaiti airspace.
