President Saddam Hussein Receives State Duma Speaker

Baghdad, March 10, 2003

    President Saddam Hussein met on Monday State Duma Speaker Gennady Seleznyov as presidential envoy from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Duma Speaker was accompanied by Ambassador Alexander Kaloghin and Head of Duma Speaker’s Office Anatoli Osoy.

    During the audience, Mr. Seleznyov conveyed a verbal letter to President Hussein from Russian President on political situation, means of boosting bilateral relations and Russia’s support to Iraq.

    He also conveyed greetings of Mr. Putin, Duma and Russia people.

    President Hussein welcomed his guest and asked him to pass on his greetings to Russian President, people and Duma.

    Present at the audience were Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Sadoun Hammadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Naji Sabri and Iraq’s Ambassador to Russia.
