LIST

of terrorist attacks committed by the Albanian separatists in the region of the AP of Kosovo and Metohija, against journalists, interpreters, huma nitarian personnel and diplomatic representatives during the time period between January 1st and October 31st, 1998

 

a) Terrorist attacks against journalists and interpreters

1. PRENTIC DRAGUTIN, journalist of the Prishtina "Jedinstvo"

On may 6th, 1998, at 10.10 p.m., in the village Meja, Commune of Djakovica, a terrorist attack was committed by automatic firearms against the family house of Prentic Dragutin, journalist-correspondent of the Prishtina "Jedinstvo". There were no injured in this attack.

2. MILASIN LJUBOMIR (1960) AND GEC JOVAN (1969) - correspondents of the AFP and of Associated Press from Belgrade.

On May, 11th, 1998, around 10.30 a.m., in the village Djurdjica, Commune of Glogovac, two armed Albanian terrorists stopped the vehicle "Land Rover", with the correspondents Milasin and Gec. After the control of their identity cards and search, the terrorists let them continue their trip to Klina.

3. KALNOKY GREGOR BORIS (1961), journalist of the German newspaper "Die Welt", and SIMON SUSAN (1964), journalist of the German daily newspaper "Berliner Norgenpost", both from Budapest, US citizens, and the journalist of the German weekly JENNER JOACHIM OTMAR (1956) AND BELLWINKEL WOLFGANG (1959), German citizens.

On may, 24th, 1998, at 7.30 p.m., on the entrance to Kosovska Mitrovica from Pec, two armed terrorists blocked the way, by a vehicle "Golf", immatriculation KM 48-54 to the vehicle "Nissan" with Hungarian immatriculation, with the mentioned journalists. They took from them their passports, searched them, and then ordered them to follow them to Kosovska Mitrovica, where they left them in the vicinity of the farmers’ market.

4. JOURNALISTS OF THE TV TEAM "WTN"

In May of the current year, at the village road Zrze-Ratkovac, in the village Zrze, Commune Orahovac, the journalists of the TV team "WTN" were stopped by Albanian terrorists who took from them their bullet-proof jackets.

5. SPANOVIC SRDJAN, correspondent of the Croatian "Jutarnji list"

By mid-May of the current year, the Albanian terrorists stopped by Komoran, on the road Pec-Prishtina, the vehicle with Srdjan Spanovic, correspondent of the Croatian "Jutarnji list", with a Czech colleague, mistreated him physically, put a rifle barrel in his mouth and after several hours of "processing" took from him his money and equipment, and then released him.

6. MITIN SERGEJ (1972), journalist of the "Izvestia" newspaper from Moscow

On July 17th, 1998, on 3.00 p.m., on the road Glogovac - Srbica, near the village Trstenik, Commune of Glogovac, three armed Albanian terrorists stopped a passenger vehicle "Golf Polo", with Belgrade immatriulation, driven by the Russian citizen Mitin Sergej (1972), journalist of the "Izvestia" newspaper from Moscow, then mistreated him physically, took his car and the films for his camera, and then went away.

 

7. OLEG SOFICIANA (1965), GALANOV ALEKSANDAR (1953) AND MAMAEV VIKTOR (1974) journalists of the Russian State TV and HOTI SABAN, interpreter from Prishtina.

On July 21st, 1998, around 11.00 a.m. at the main highway Prishtina-Pec, in the village Lapusnik, Commune of Glogovac, a terrorist attack was committed against the journalists of the Russian State Television Oleg Safiuli (1965), Galanov Aleksandar (1953), Mamaev Viktor (1974) and Hoti Saban (1945) from Prishtina, retired employee of the Police in Prishtina and professor of Russian, who was the interpreter. The journalists were released around 7.30 p.m., and the cameras and the films were taken from them. The Albanian terrorists kept Hoti Saban - his fate is still uncertain.

8. A JOURNALIST OF "FRANCE PRESS" and the interpreter NORE LJAMOJE from Prishtina

On August 8, 1998, around 10.00 a.m., on the village road Zrze-Ratkovac, in the village Zrze, Commune of Orahovac, a terrorist attack was committed with automatic armament against an armored vehicle - a jeep with French immatriculation, with the journalist of "France Press" from France and the interpreter Nore Ljamoje from Prishtina. There were no injured persons.

9. THE CORRESPONDENT of the Japanese agency "Kiodo"

In August of the current year, on the road Zrze-Ratkovac, in the village Zrze, Commune of Orahovac, the vehicle of the Japanese correspondent of "Kiodo" was stopped. The Albanian terrorists mistreated the correspondent and took from him his bullet-proof jacket.

10. The "Reuters" CAMERAMAN

In August of the current year, the Albanian terrorists took, near the village Iglarevo, Commune of Klina, from the "Reuters" cameraman the recorded material, and left him on the road near the village.

11. SLAVUJ DJURO (1958) journalist of the Radio and TV Prishtina and the driver PERENIC RANKO (1958)

On August 21st, 1998, on the road to Zociste, Commune Orahovac, near the place Brestovacke Sume, the Albanian terrorists kidnapped the journalist of the RTV Prishtina Slavuj Djuro, refugee from the Republic of Croatia, residing in Kosovo Polje, and the driver Perenic from Prishtina. The wife of the journalist started a hunger strike as a protest against the kidnapping.

12. KOPRIVICA PETKO , JOURNALIST OF THE TV Novi Sad, RADOSLAV JAKSIC, cameraman, PRENTIC DRAGUTIN, journalist of "Jedinstvo" and TANJUG correspondent from Djakovica and driver LUZAJIC ZORAN

On August 24th, 1998, on the road between the villages Korenica and Ramac, commune Djakovica, near the Yugoslav-Albanian border, the Albanian terrorists committed a terrorist attack against the TV team Novi Sad, consisting of Koprivica Petko and Jaksic Radoslav and of the journalist of the Prishtina "Jedinstvo" Dragutin Prentic and Zoran Luzajic, driver. Thanks to the policemen, the band was driven away. Two policemen were wounded, while the journalists were not injured.

 

13. DOBRICIC VLADIMIR and RADOSEVIC NEBOJSA, journalists of TANJUG.

On October 10th, 1998, at 12.00 noon, on the road Prishtina - Magura, Commune Lipljan, the Albanian terrorists kidnapped Dobricic Vladimir (1948) from Belgrade and Radosevic Nebojsa (1966), from Prishtina, TANJUG journalists, who were going to their job in the service car "Yugo Florida", to the village Magura, and from that moment nothing is known about them.

 

ADDENDUM 7

Terrorist attacks against the personnel of the humanitarian organizations in the area of Kosovo and Metohija, in the time period between January 1st and October 20th, 1998.

1. The humanitarian organization "ECHO" (a convoy of 7 vehicles with 11 passengers)

On march, 26th, 1998, around 1.00 p.m., in the village Makrmalj, Commune Srbica, a group of some 30 masked and armed terrorists stopped a convoy of seven vehicles, which transported humanitarian aid of the humanitarian organization "ECHO", to the village Likovac, Commune Srbica. After keeping the convoy for some time, the terrorists returned the convoy to Srbica around 2.00 p.m.

2. TWO VEHICLES OF THE RED CROSS

On July 1st, 1998, around 1.35 p.m., in the village Prilep, Commune Decani, a terrorist attack was committed, with automatic weapons, against two vehicles of the Red Cross, immatriculation 10-E-06 and BG 723-RP, which returned to Pe c after the attack. There were no injured persons.

3. MARLENE GRAVEN, from the Netherlands, member of the humanitarian organization "Medecins sans frontieres"

On July, 23rd, 1998, Marlene Graven, citizen of the Netherlands, as the responsible person of the humanitarian organization "Medecins sans frontieres", informed the Secretariat in Pec that on that same day, around 11.00 a.m., in the village Lodja, Commune Pec, a passenger vehicle "Toyota Land Cruiser", owned by the mentioned humanitarian organization, driven by Esad Malji, from Pec, was stopped by three terrorists, armed with automatic rifles, who put wooden barriers on the road. After a short questioning of miss Graven, the Albanian terrorists took away the mentioned vehicle.

4. The vehicle OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS

On September 30th, 1998, at 9.30 a.m., on the road between the villages Gornje Obrinje, Commune Glogovac, and Likovac, Commune Srbica, a vehicle of the International Committee of the Red Cross from Switzerland, "Jeep-Toyota" driven by Margaret Brysson (1952) from New Zealand, hit a land mine put by the Albanian terrorists when withdrawing from that region. In the explosion, Spetim Robaj (1957) from Prishtina, physician, anesthesiologist in the ICRC, was killed. Margaret Brysson, Tolaj Ilir (1961) from Djakovica and Linda Bunjaku (1963) from Prishtina, also working in the ICRC, were injured.

 

ADDENDUM 8

Terrorist attacks against diplomatic representatives in the area of Kosovo and Metohija, in the time period between January 1st and October 20th, 1998.

1. TAKAKO UGAYA, attachŽ of the Japanese Embassy in the FR of Yugoslavia

On April, 247th, 1998, around 1.15 p.m., on the road Srbica-Klina, in the village Laupa, Commune Srbica, the Albanian separatists committed a terrorist attack, with automatic weapons, against the diplomatic vehicle "Toyota Land Cruiser", immatriculation 86-A-21 CD, driven by Miss Takako Ugaya, attachŽ of the Japanese Embassy in the FR of Yugoslavia. The diplomatic vehicle was hit by two shells, but Miss Ugaya was not injured.

2. THE AMERICAN INFORMATION CENTER IN PRISHTINA

On August 26th, 1998, around 9.10 p.m., the Albanian terrorists threw a "Molotov Cocktail" on the building of the American Information Center. A fire broke near the entrance, extinguished by the security. There were no injured persons.

3. THE DIPLOMATIC OBSERVERS’ MISSION OF THE USA AND OF RUSSIA

On September 3rd, 1998, near the village Pagarusa, on the road between Malisevo and Orahovac, the Albanian terrorists stopped the vehicles with the members of the diplomatic observers’ missions from the USA and from Russia and mistreated them by verbal threats and scared them during over 40 minutes. After the strong intervention and warning of the members of the mission, the Albanian terrorists let them go.

4. THE DIPLOMATIC OBSERVERS’ MISSION OF CANADA

On September 4th, 1998, at 12.15 noon, in the village Likovac, Commune Srbica, a vehicle "Chevrolet", owned by the Canadian Embassy in Belgrade, with three persons, members of the diplomatic observers’ mission for Kosovo and Metohija, hit an anti-tank mine put by the Albanian terrorists. The explosion of the mine overturned the vehicle. One member of the mission was injured on the face. The vehicle was considerably damaged.
