Belgrade, March 28 (Tanjug - abridged) - Yugoslav air defense downs Saturday the famous single-seat attack and defense suppression aircraft F-117, which is the pride of aggressor NATO's air force, and has been considered an invincible fighter-bomber.

The pictures of the downed plane, called by its developers the ''Nighthawk'', were broadcasted on the Serbian radio-television around midnight Saturday and those pictures were quickly taken over by the American TV network CNN.

An aggressor ''Nighthawk'' plane was downed near the Voivodina village of Budjanovic, between Ruma and Sabac, at around 9 p.m. local time Saturday.

U.S. F-117 single-seat attack and defense suppression aircraft is designed on the basics of the highest and newest ''stealth'' technology which makes the plane absolutely invisible for the radar systems.

It is a developing program of the American company ''Lockheed'' and is designed and put into use as an almost complete secret in an American society which is proud of its openness, freedom of speech and informing.

''Nighthawk'' flies at the 9 times of the sound speed, has a 1750km range and can stay in air for 12 hours with the additional gas fill up. The wings are 13m wide, it is about 3,5m high and 20m long.
