NATO genocide over Serbs
April 02, 1999

Belgrade, April 1 (Tanjug)- Yugoslavia has for as long as week been a victim of a most brutal and in history unprecedented aggression of the mightiest powers in the world, NATO members, President of the Chess Federation of Yugoslavia Zoran Lilic, who is Yugoslav Deputy Prime Minister, said in a letter sent to International Chess Federation (FIDE) President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of the Russian Kalmyk republic.

"Unprecedented devastation is pursued, helpless civilians, above all women, children and old people, are being killed, housing facilities, schools, hospitals, sports facilities, churches, monasteries and historical landmarks are being destroyed. And, all this is done allegedly "to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Serbia's southern province of Kosovo and Metohija," as the executors of this insane operation, headed by the United States, allege, the letter said.

"However, facts show that the situation is just the opposite," Lilic said and set out that the only objective of the NATO air assaults was to destroy Serbia and the Serbian people and provide support for the criminal activities of the ethnic-Albanian terrorists and separatists.

We urge you to call on all chess players and chess federations in the world to raise their voice against the evil and hatred, whose victim Yugoslavia and its people are, and to contribute at least a little for it to end, Lilic underscored.
