Pristina, April 17 (Tanjug) - The Yugoslav Third Army has managed to keep intact its arms and equipment in Kosovo and Metohija and only infrastructure facilities have been destroyed, while NATO has suffered in our territory heavy losses, general Nebojsa Pavkovic said Saturday in an interview for Radio Pristina.

He said that 19 countries, using the most advanced arms, had attacked our small country, and we have successfully responded to the attacks.

The Third Army members alone have struck and downed sixteen fighter jets, five helicopters, 46 cruise missiles and four pilotless planes. Some of these results have been shown to the world public, Pavkovic said.

Yugoslav Army morale has never been as high. The people and the army have practically become one whole as a result of the criminal NATO aggression, fully resolved to defend to the end their country, Kosovo and Metohija, and to resist the aggressor to the end, Pavkovic said.

Ethnic Albanian terrorist forces in Kosovo and Metohija have been routed, which is evidenced by the fact that NATO aggressors are forming new ethnic Albanian forces in the territory of Albania and Macedonia and attempting to introduce them into our country, general Pavkovic said and added: We are waiting for them to come.

Their second objective, the total destruction of the Yugoslav Army and other security forces of our people, has also failed, the Third Army commander said.

In the territory of Kosovo and Metohija there are now over 150 armed men.

The third objective which they have set up, to bring in ground troops cannot be realized in Kosovo and Metohija without heavy losses on both sides, Pavkovic said.

NATO cannot achieve a military victory, but nevertheless it is trying through media propaganda to realize some of its objectives.

"We are an army made up of all the people and of all national minorities living in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija and that it how we act. The Yugoslav Army has been and has remained a factor of stability in this territory," general Pavkovic.

Pavkovic said that in the first three to four days of the NATO aggression on our country there were no refugees. Refugees appeared when NATO bombs started falling on populated areas, cities, houses and homes belonging to all national communities in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. From that moment on people could not sit quietly in their homes and wait for a bomb to fall on their heads, the commander of the Yugoslav Third Army said.
