Norway against the bombardment of civilians
April 22, 1999

Civil objects - frequent bombing targets
Bonn, April 22 (Tanjug - abridged) - Norwegian government will demand the stop of the bombardment of the civilian targets in Yugoslavia at the NATO summit in Washington, Aaslaug Haga, Secretary of State in the cabinet of the Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik states in Oslo on Thursday.

In the interview to the "Nacionen" paper from Oslo, as the German agency DPA transmits, Haga stresses that Norway have never supported NATO's bombardment of the civilian targets.

Bombardment of he civilian objets, as the Socialist party of Serbia headquarters is, cannot be justified with the military reasons, Secretary of State Haga states.

Speaking about the motives of the ruling NATO force - United States of America, for the bombardment of the inhabited areas, factories and bridges, Haga states that, according to her opinion, Washington has some interests of its own in doing so and that the braking of the "Belgrade regime" could be one of them.

Norway have not authorized NATO for that either, Haga stresses.
