April 24, 1999

"We did not give birth to our sons to kill yours"
Belgrade, April 24 (Tanjug - abridged) - A group of German anti-fascists and peace fighters of 122 people, mothers and fathers whose sons are taking part in the NATO aggression against Yugoslavia as well as tens of German young men arrived in Belgrade on Saturday aiming to support the Yugoslav citizens in their day and night protest against the criminal USA and NATO aggression against the independent and sovereign country of Yugoslavia.

German citizens were welcomed by the Yugoslav Minister of Labor, Veteran and Public Welfare Issues deputy Mirjana Drages, Yugoslav Women Society President and Serbian Commissar for Refugees Bratislava Morina and Serbian Red Cross secretary general Radmila Cvetkovic in the Yugoslav Red Cross headquarters.

Ilona Rothe, whose son takes part in the NATO troops in Macedonia states that she came to support all the mothers in Yugoslavia and to once again raise the voice against the war and the killing of the innocent people.

We do not want for our sons to be killed. We did not give them birth to kill your sons, Ilona Rothe says.

She explains that they came to Belgrade to personally observe the consequences of the war because there are no informations about what is actually happening where they are coming from.
