Journalists bear witness to withdrawal of a part of units from Kosovo and Metohia May 13, 1999
After a several days long refusal, NATO aggressor headquarters in Brussels had to admit on Thursday the fact that the decision by our Supreme Command is being carried out. For the first time on Thursday, foreign journalists were witnesses to the withdrawal of a part of the units from the city of Merdare, where, as they say, commandant of the Pristina corps of the Yugoslav Army general Vladimar Lazarevic had been present. Gen. Lazarevic stated to the reporters that the withdrawal of the units is made difficult by the constant NATO bombing of that area as well as the entire territory of Yugoslavia. On May 10, Yugoslav Army Supreme Command issued an announcement ordering the beginning of the withdrawal of a part of the Yugoslav Army and police units from Kosovo and Metohia considering the fact that the actions against the terrorists of the so-called KLA are finished in that area. That decision is being realized since May 9, 22:00 PM. Announcement by the Supreme Command of them Yugoslav Army says that once agreement is reached with the United Nations on sending a U.N. mission to Kosovo and Metohija, and the outside threat to the territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is thus ended, it will then be possible to realize the plan, under which military and police forces in Kosovo and Metohija will be reduced to the peace-time level from before the onset of aggression.
