Killing of refugees in Djakovica

Refugees faced special misfortune in this attack on our country. Those unfortunate people who had been left without their homes and their country, having fled Croatia and Bosnia, to find shelters in Yugoslavia, started fleeing their homes and often found death in the air strikes of the NATO aggressor.

In the attack on May 21 on the refugee camp "Majino naselje", several km south from Djakovica, 10 refugees were killed and 20 injured. Among the first identified were seven-year-old Ivan Ivancevic, brothers Davor (1970) and Radivije (1972) Volarevic. On the road between Prizren and Suva Reka, in the village of Korisa, the convoy of the Albanian refugees returning to their homes was shelled. Approximately 100 civilians were killed during that raid, women and children mostly. On the road between Djakovica and Prizren, in broad daylight, a convoy of the civilian vehicles with nearly 400 Albanian refugees from the two villages from Djakovica district and one from the Prizren district was blasted . At least 75 people were killed and more than 20 heavily injured.
