Bombarding of hospitals

Destroyed medical equipment
Many hospitals and medical institutions were demolished or damaged with the direct hits, explosions and detonations.

During the first days of April, an explosion right next to the Clinical center in Belgrade has caused the damage to the Gynecological department, the Emergency center and the psychiatry institute. Heavy patients, those attached to the medical devices, about 70 just born babies and their mothers were evacuated to the basements. Military hospital (VMA) was shelled two times and heavily damaged as well as the orthopedics department "Banjica" in its nearby.


Just born babies in shelter
Aggressor attacked Clinical center "Dr. Dragisa Misovic" for two times. In the first raid the lung department for the children, where mostly babies and the children till the 15 years of age were hospitalized, was heavily damaged. During the second attack on May 19 neurological department of this hospital was directly hit and completely demolished and more than 20 objects of this center were damaged. Three patients were killed while three pregnant women, three just born babies and several medical workers were heavily injured.


Rescuing of hard patients
In the beginning of May, when the Belgrade downtown was shelled, all the surgery halls at the urology clinic were destroyed. Due to the several raids in the nearby, all the medical equipment was destroyed, more than 60 windows broken, many doors pulled out and the ceilings fell at the special hospital for the prevention and the healing of the cerebral-vascular diseases "Sveti Sava".

In the direct shelling of the special hospital for the lung diseases in Surdulica 19 people were killed. The aggressor has also shelled the medical centers and institutions in Pancevo, Leskovac, Nis, Djakovica, Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Valjevo, Kursumlija, Zlatibor and Novi Pazar.


Demolished hospital in Belgrade
The aggressor committed an additional monstrous crime by destroying of the electro-energetic plants throughout Serbia. Due to the disappearance of the electricity and water lives of 9500 patients in intensive care, 300 prematurely born babies, 2000 patients suffering from kidneys in chemical dialyses, 400 malignant patients in laser therapy, 1000 hospital patients on the surgery desks, 30000 patients with the need for laboratory analyses, 12000 requiring X-ray machine, 500 in tomography, 200 in magnetic resonance treatment and 200 treated with the nuclear medicine were endangered in Serbia.
