[allAfrica.com] 300 Families Face Eviction New Vision (Kampala) NEWS December 11, 2002 Posted to the web December 11, 2002 Kampala OVER 300 families formerly evicted from Mpokya forest reserve and resettled in Kibaale district face fresh eviction from their current homes due to ethnic clashes, reports John Nzinjah. The New Vision learnt from a reliable source over the weekend that the affected families were negotiating relocation to Kasese district. The source said the affected people have been accused of supporting a Mukiga candidate, Fred Ruremera in last year's local council elections. The source alleged that the indegenous ethnic groups in Kibale district want all people resettled in the area to leave so that they do not interfere in their political systems. Seven years ago, thousands of people were evicted from the forest reserve. Kasese RDC Musa Ecweru recently said the process of locating the degazetted land was in its final stages.
