UPDF Kills 17 Congo Rebels

The UPDF in DR Congo has killed 17 Lendu militia who it said ambushed their
convoy near Bunia.
The UPDF spokesman Maj. Shaban Bantariza yesterday said their attackers killed
one UPDF soldier but they managed to repulse them.
"The Lendu and Mbusa's [Nyamwisi] forces ambushed our forces mid-way between
Kasenyi and Bunia," said Bantariza.
The UPDF has put to task the leader of RCD-Kisangani rebel faction to explain
why his forces attacked the UPDF.
"Mbusa has to explain," said Bantariza.
But Mbusa's representative in Kampala Frank Lusambo said, "It could not have
been us because our forces are not in that place in the first place."
The UPDF soldiers were part of the many moving from different parts of Lume
Mahagi back to Bunia.
