Lendu fighters are said to have attacked a Hema community in Tchiomia, killing 54 civilians on Tuesday. One of the leaders of the Hema political group, the Party for the Unity and the Safeguard of Integrity of Congo (PUSIC), Mr Kisembo Bitamara, said that the Lendu attackers also lost 28 fighters. "They attacked from 4 a.m. but we managed to kill 28 of them," Kisembo said. The PUSIC claimed that Congolese government soldiers and those from the RCD-ML led by Mr Mbusa Nyamwisi helped the attackers. PUSIC said that they captured 37 guns used by the Lendu and their helpers. Three PUSIC fighters were reportedly killed. Eight of those injured were flown to Uganda on Wednesday.
