Assassins Kill Community Elders' Scribe

SUSPECTED assassins, weekend, in Benin City shot dead the secretary of the
Idunwun-Owina community Elders' Council, Mr. Anthony Aifuwa, while he was
relaxing in his residence at No 38 Oyenmwonsa Street, off Murtala Mohammed Way.
The killers who stormed his residence at about 8.00 pm, Saturday, in a Mercedes
Benz V-boot car, did not give the deceased any chance to live as they fired at
him before he could utter a word. He was left to die in a pool of his blood .
His eldest son, Kingsley who was with him when he was shot could not believe
his eyes. The sad incident set the community in panic. The deceased, who was
sitting outside was led into his sitting room by the assailants who shot him on
the head.
Edo State Police spokesman, Mr. Fatai Kinyomi who confirmed the death of Mr.
Aifuwa to Vanguard yesterday said that one of the suspects who led the killers
to deceased's home has been arrested by the police and that fullscale
investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death was on.
The corpse of the community leader had been deposited at the mortuary of a
private hospital in Benin City.
