The petitioners are protesting alleged plane of Oba Elegushi who once had the title of the land to supplant the issuance of the C of O to the resettled residents on Monday April 5. In a letter written by Mr. Kayode Bankole counsel to the residents addressed to the Governor, he decried an alleged move by Oba Elegushi to snatch the land being used to resettle them, collect their Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), and also impose a new Baale over them in the new location, despite the fact that they were no longer under his domain. They claimed they had struggled with successive governments under their association for the re-settlement since they were displaced over twenty years ago by then-Governor Raji Rasaki. "We wish to inform your Excellency on a plan by Oba Elegushi to snatch the land being used to resettle our client, and its certificate of occupancy by suddenly imposing a Baale over us. The land being used to resettle our clients is located within the area originally owned by the Ojomu, therefore it becomes impossible for the Elegushi to now select or impose any Baale over the portion of land", Bankole wrote. The residents also informed the Governor of one Primate Sunday Olayinka (the association leader) as the one chosen by them to collect the certificate of occupancy for them at the formal presentation.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2004 This Day.
