The district councillor for Ongongoja, Faustine Odeke, said the dead had been part of a group of 36 Karimojong warriors that had invaded a number of kraals in Akworo village on March 29. "They did not take any cattle but one of the rustlers was killed on the spot. According to reports that I have received from my constituents six more bodies were found in the bushes," Odeke said. The Arrow Group militia intelligence officer, Robert Adiama, said they had received numerous reports that the warriors were reorganising to launch fresh attacks. "It is not the first time that the rustlers have planned such things against the people of Katakwi, but we were more vigilant this time," Adiama said. The resident district commissioner, Okoth Nyalulu said that measures had been put in place to ensure that cattle rustling in district was checked. "I have worked in Moroto and I know how to handle this issue," he said.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2004 New Vision.
