[allAfrica.com] [Ghanaian_Chronicle,_Accra] Kill Museveni - Kony New Vision (Kampala) NEWS April 17, 2004 Posted to the web April 19, 2004 By Patrick Jaramogi Kampala THE Lord's Resistance Army chief, Joseph Kony, has scoffed at Museveni's peace overtures, saying he has ordered his commanders to kill Museveni. "Museveni cannot talk peace. He is a killer; he wants to kill me. But I have asked my commanders to kill him," Kony said in an interview published in the recent edition of the New Sudan independent monthly magazine, The Referendum. He reportedly said he feared communicating with Museveni using the phone for fear of being assassinated. "Museveni wants me to talk to him on phone so that his spies can intercept the talks and assassinate me. I will communicate to Museveni using the Holy Spirit," he said. Kony denied allegations of wanton LRA rape, murder and abduction of civilians in the north. "All the allegations are not true. Museveni's killers are the ones doing ungodly practices. My dream is for the application of the ten commandments," he said. "LRA will always depend on God's strength. We will keep on fighting until we liberate Acholi land from occupation," he said. Kony said the LRA would retaliate if the Equatoria Defence Forces, a southern Sudan-based militia, did not stop attacking them. "I want to tell the Sudanese to keep away from us. If they attack us like they did in March, we will fight and set all their villages on fire," he said. Kony said the Sudanese peace deal, which is under way, would not deter them from fighting on because they still had support. He claimed he had made contacts with the Ethiopian-based Oromo rebels. "I have been invited by some lords in Oromo land and I will go there soon," Kony said The magazine's editor-in-chief, Nhial Bol said from his Nairobi office yesterday that the interview was authentic. "One of our reporters, who was Kony's former intelligence officer, conducted the interview in Juba, Southern Sudan on March 6," Bol said on phone. He promised to publish Kony's pictures in the next edition. "The pictures were poor, but we hope to publish in our next edition," he said. Bol, who claimed to have last met Kony during last Christmas, described Kony as a slim man.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2004 New Vision.
