News (Lagos) NEWS May 24, 2004 Posted to the web May 25, 2004 By Bamidele Ogunwusi Lagos Pandemonium broke ouit in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital this morning when thugs numbering over 300 in commercial buses and cars went round the city, chanting war songs against the state government. The thugs, armed with dane guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, had on Friday stormed the city's Central Mosque in Oja-Oba area while the weekly Jumat service was going on with the hope of attacking the state governor. An eyewitness told P.M.News that two vehicles were damaged beyond repairs while more than 25 people received various degree of injuries during the incident. On Sunday, P.M.News gathered that some thugs also went round the city searching for the Deputy Governor, Otunba Alao Akala, who flagged-off the one year anniversary programme of the administration. This morning, the thugs stormed places like Molete, Challenge, Oja-Oba and Bere with a promise to stop the one year anniversary programme of the Rashidi Ladoja-led administration. As a result of the tension which pervaded the city, commercial activities were grounded as residents of the city abandoned some routes to avoid being attacked by the thugs.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2004 P.M.
