[allAfrica.com] [celtel.com] German NGO Aids Lira, Pader IDPs New Vision (Kampala) NEWS May 29, 2004 Posted to the web June 1, 2004 By Robert Okodia Kampala German Agro Action, a humanitarian aid agency, has started distributing non- food items worth 2,500 Euros (sh500m) to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Lira and Pader districts. The items have been distributed at Anai IDP camp in Lira and will extend to Kalongo IDP camp in Pader district. The Great Lakes region senior programme officer, Thomas Bagoole, said they would distribute 5,000 blankets, 5,000 energy saving stoves, 5,000 bars of soap, 5,000 jerricans and 5,000 saucepans. The consignment also included plastic plates and cups, second-hand clothes for children and 5,000 bags of charcoal, to benefit 3,500 households in Lira and 1,500 households in Pader. Bagoole said the donation was part of their commitment to aid the displaced persons in Lango and Acholi with humanitarian assistance.
