What sanctions are being imposed on them and what other sanctions are being looked at with regard to Sudanese officials? Answer: We have credible reports from non-governmental organizations that the following individuals are leaders of the Jingaweit and bear responsibility for atrocities committed by the Jingaweit. We are seeking to verify this information and to determine what other senior leaders bear responsibility: Musa Hilal, Jingaweit Coordinator; Hamid Dawai, Jingaweit leader; Abdullah abu Shineibat, Jingaweit leader; Omar Babbush, Jingaweit leader; Omada Saef, Jingaweit leader; Ahmad Dekheir, Jingaweit leader; Ahmed Abu Kamasha, Jingaweit leader. We have pressed the Government of Sudan to take immediate action to stop the Jingaweit and end the violence and atrocities. As you know, we already have significant sanctions on Sudan. In addition, we are considering targeted sanctions, such as visa restrictions and financial sanctions against individuals.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2004 United States Department of State.
