[allAfrica.com] Igbo Leader Insists On Sovereign Conference This Day (Lagos) NEWS August 22, 2004 Posted to the web August 23, 2004 By Oghenekevwe Laba Lagos Eze Ndigbo Lagos State and National President, Traditional Council of Ndi Eze Igbo in Diaspora, Eze Hyacinth Ohazurike has said that the only solution to the puzzle of national Precedency was the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference where every body will have a choice of expression. Ohazurike who made this suggestion in an interview with THISDAY in Lagos during the presentation of a new dance by a Social cultural Association of Igbo Women (Ezinne Ndi Igbo) stated that it is disheartening to note that fellow Nigerians did not want Ibo men or women to show their skill of leadership as President of the country. He said the only place to address the situation of depriving the Iboman from becoming president of the country is the convergence of a national sovereign conference where every body will voice their opinion, adding that anyone running away from the issue of a conference has a hidden agenda. Thanking President Obasanjo for his efforts in correcting the wrongs his counterpart left behind, the Eze said it is shameful that all that he achieved during his tenure of leadership as military head of state were destroyed by those who took over from him.
