[allAfrica.com] [Africa_2004] Govt to Resettle Ex-Captives New Vision (Kampala) NEWS September 2, 2004 Posted to the web September 2, 2004 By Nathan Etengu Kampala THE Government is to resettle over 25,000 former Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) abductees at Labora farm, Gulu district, state minister for disaster preparedness Christine Amongin Aporu said on Saturday. She said those to be resettled included former LRA fighters who surrendered and the abductees who either escaped or were rescued by the UPDF. "We now have more than 25,000 people including former LRA fighters and abductees that the Government intends to resettle," Amongin said. She said the Government would continue to empower the returnees with various development programmes initiated in the region.
