[allAfrica.com] [Africa_2004] Dlamini Zuma in The Hague for SADC-EU Conference BuaNews (Pretoria) NEWS October 18, 2004 Posted to the web October 18, 2004 By Richard Mantu Pretoria Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has arrived in The Hague, Netherlands to attend the Southern African Development Community -European Union Ministerial Conference. The Conference starts tomorrow and ends on Wednesday. Dr Dlamini Zuma is currently chairperson of SADC Ministerial Organ on Politics, Defence and Security. The Foreign Ministers of Mauritius, Jaya Krishna Cuttaree, and The Netherlands, Bernard Bot will co-chair the meeting in their current capacities as chairs of SADC and the EU respectively. Lesotho, Botswana,Tanzania, Namibia, Luxembourg and the European Commission will also participate in this meeting. Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said the meeting will discuss developments in both regions. "This includes peace and security in Africa including the SADC Mutual Defence Pact, and SADC Indicative Plan for the Organ, the peace process in the Great Lakes region, EU support including the African Peace Facility, and the global fight against terrorism," said Mr Mamoepa. He added that other issues would be the political, economic, social and developmental aspects of regional integration including the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan, SADC/NEPAD collaboration, the impact of HIV and AIDS on the region, SADC's humanitarian and food security situations, and the common agricultural policy of the region.   ===============================================================================  Copyright © 2004 BuaNews.
