[allAfrica.com] [allAfrica.com_Top_Headlines] Sierra Leone Looks Proper Security Sector Concord Times (Freetown) NEWS October 25, 2004 Posted to the web October 26, 2004 By Joseph Kamanda Freetown Deputy Defence Minister, Joe Blell last Friday said government is looking for assistance in developing a proper security sector for the country. Blell was speaking during a visit to his office by a delegation form the State Department's Bureau of International Organization to discuss issues relating to improvement of the security network in the Sub-Region. Blell says the delegation's visit demonstrates the interest of the State Department Bureau of International Organizations have in improving and developing Sierra Leone's security sector. He said the RSLAF need to be equipped with adequate logistics to ensure proper command, control and an effective security network in the country. Head of the delegation, Gerald Anderson points out that their tour to West African countries is to discuss on peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and regional stability. Anderson explained that the trip is to familiarize them about the situation on the ground in order to enable them get recent update on specific areas of interest.
