[allAfrica.com] [Africa_2004] Army Chief Meets DR Congo, Sao Tome And Congo Brazzaville Senior Officers Angola Press Agency (Luanda) NEWS October 26, 2004 Posted to the web October 26, 2004 Luanda The Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, Gen. Agostinho Nelumba "Sanjar", has met today in Luanda his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gen. Kisempia Sumgilanga, with whom he analysed military issues. The Chief of the neighbouring DR Congo's Armed Forces (FAC) has arrived on Monday in Luanda, for a three-days working visit to Angola ahead of a delegation integrated by 17 high-ranking officers of his country's army. At the end of the audience, the Congolese General, who regarded the meeting as positive, told the press that he had discussed with his interlocutor matters related to the military assistance which Angola has been providing to its biggest neighbour and the situation along the two countries' common borders. Regarding to the current situation prevailing in his country, although he has acknowledged the existence of little problems, Gen. Sumgilanga considered it as "calm", adding that there is a positive solution. Gen. Sanjar, yet today during two other separate audiences, received the Chief of Staff of Sao Tome and Principe's Armed Forces, Lieutenant-colonel Idalicio Paxiri, and the commander for education of the Republic of Congo's Armed Forces, Colonel Ntsourou Marcel. These two military officers were invited by the Angolan authorities to attend the military exercises code-named Feline/2004, carried out by the Special Forces of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community, from October 14-26, in Angola.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2004 Angola Press Agency.
