[allAfrica.com] [Africa_2004] President's Aide Warns NGOs On Karimojong New Vision (Kampala) NEWS November 8, 2004 Posted to the web November 8, 2004 By Joseph Orisa Kampala Special Presidential assistant on disarmament and development in Karamoja Michael Lokawa Lote has accused some NGOs of giving wrong information to the public and donors concerning the current disarmament of Karimojong warriors. He was speaking during a radio programme at All Karamoja FM in Moroto town on Wednesday. He said some NGOs had told the people that the Government would soon use force to retrieve the guns. He did not name the organisations. Lote added that this had caused many Karimojong to flee their homes, and that most of them had camped in churches and hospitals in the towns, in fear of forceful disarmament.
