[allAfrica.com] [AED_Fundraising_Gala_Dinner_2004] Sudanese Parties Sign Security And Humanitarian Protocol Nigeria First (Abuja) NEWS November 10, 2004 Posted to the web November 10, 2004 Abuja Parties to the Sudanese peace talks on 9 November in Abuja signed a security protocol, which is expected to put an end to the hostilities in the Darfur region. The security protocol imposes a ban on hostile military flights over the Darfur region and the rebel-held territory. It also envisages the disarming of the Janjaweed militia by the Sudanese government. Parties to the conflict will also reveal the location of their forces to the African Union cease-fire monitors. In a separate agreement on humanitarian protocol, aid workers would be allowed free access to deliver humanitarian aid to the Darfur region. The African Union President and peace talk host, President Olusegun Obasanjo was present during the agreement signing. He expressed hope that the agreements would be meticulously adhered to.
