[allAfrica.com] [stanbic.com] Police Chief Says Yenga Remain Unresolved Concord Times (Freetown) NEWS December 15, 2004 Posted to the web December 15, 2004 Freetowne Tanu Jalloh Local Unit Commander, Philip Ernest Wellington said recently that the controversy between Guinea and Sierra Leone over the ownership of Yenga still remain unresolved. Wellington says youths in the disputed boarder town of Yenga are still complaining that Guinean troops have refused to leave Yenga despite calls by residents of the township."The youths had wanted to create havoc in the area to force Guinean troops out of the township but the Provincial Security Committee warned them to desist from any action that would warrant violence in the area," he states, adding that the District Security Committee is working closely with the police on matters relating to security in the district."We've decided to convene conferences on fortnightly basis to discuss the general situation on the ground," he said.   ================================================================================   Copyright © 2004 Concord Times.
