Security Firms Top Crime List

Private security organisations led in commission of crimes among the security
groups last year.
Kampala Extra Region Police boss, Mr Oyo Nyeko, told The Monitor yesterday at
Central Police Station, " Out of 187 cases of crime committed by security
organisations, private security groups committed 100 cases."
They were followed by police with 44 cases, UPDF with 36 cases and prisons with
only one case," Nyeko said.
He said the security firms mainly commit murder by shooting, robbery, theft,
corruption and taking bribes.
Nyeko said they would improve on private security investigations and make sure
reported cases are handled in time.
He said white-collar crime such as abuse of office and issuance of false
cheques as crimes high on the police target next year.
He said they would also cut down on the thugs and street criminals in the city
for proper security.
