[allAfrica.com] [Africare] French Navy to Provide Medical Care Public Agenda (Accra) NEWS January 17, 2005 Posted to the web January 18, 2005 Accra A French Naval Medical Personnel, in collaboration with their Ghanaian counterparts from the 37 Military Hospital will on Thursday, provide free medical care to patients at Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region. The French Naval ship, " LPD OURAGAN", carrying the team will dock at the Tema Port on Wednesday as part of its regular mission along the coast of West Africa and will leave on Monday, according to a release by the French Embassy in Accra. The visit forms part of the French Navy's regular visit to the West African sub region to strengthen its existing relations with the Ghanaian Navy and also to establish closer links with the people of Ghana. "LPD OURAGAN" is a 150 meter long amphibian assault ship, which has the capacity to carry 2000 civilians in case of emergency . It has often carried humanitarian cargo towards the sub region.
