It has been observed that the lack of accommodation leading to soldiers dwelling in different parts of the country posed a security threat and contributed to the nightmarish scenario that characterized Sierra Leone for eleven years. Speaking at the 10th Development Partnership Committee meeting (DEPAC) at the Country Lodge in the west of Freetown on January 13, he outlined government's resolve in the crusade against poverty that has encumbered the progress of post-war Sierra Leone. He stressed that provision for soldiers should be part of the poverty alleviation drive. DEPAC is a meeting of stakeholders with the Development Assistance Coordinating Office, DACO, which is the agency handling the poverty alleviation in the country. Berewa also said there was need for magistrates in all the districts in the country, adding that training should be provided for the youth "Also, a disaster management project to detect as well as prevent future crisis has been established at the Office of National security", he revealed.
