[allAfrica.com] [Africa_2005] Ajagu Appeals to Nigerians On Peaceful Co-Existence Vanguard (Lagos) NEWS January 21, 2005 Posted to the web January 21, 2005 By Anayo Okoli Awka ANAMBRA State Vice President of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Dauda Ajagu has appealed to Nigerians to live in peace and unity, saying that God loves a harmonious living. Ajagu advised Nigerians and leaders to toe the path of peace and harmony as the only way to keep Nigeria together as one. In his Ide-Kabil message to the people of Anambra State, Ajagu warned politicians that history will not forgive them if the nation's nascent democracy fails due to their recklessness. Ajagu also urged the Federal Government to use the period of Ide-Kabil celebration to resolve the Anambra political crisis, saying that the period is synonymous with peace. "I wish to advise the Federal Government and PDP National Working Committee to see that they use the spirit of this Salla celebration to put an end to the Anambra crisis because what is happening today in Anambra is taking the state backwards in the area of development",Ajagu said. He said without peace and unity no meaningful development can be achieved in the state. He warned politicians in the state to give peace a chance for the future of their children. Alhaji Ajagu also called on the Anambra State Government to reconstitute the State's Muslim Pilgrims Board, the absence of which he said has deprived the muslims in the state the opportunity of performing their obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca. He urged the Muslim community in the state to remain calm while the Government reconstitutes the board and assured them that they will be part of next year's Hajji operations.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2005 Vanguard.
