[allAfrica.com] [celtel.com] Security Council Resolution No.1640/2005 is Illegal Shabait.com (Asmara) NEWS November 26, 2005 Posted to the web November 29, 2005 Asmara As the UN Security Council, in its recently adopted Resolution No. 1640/2005 regarding the Eritrean-Ethiopian border demarcation process, instead of addressing the main issue diverts to hidden issues, Eritrea reminds that this resolution has nothing to do with it, be it in the short or long-term sense. In view of the fact that the United Nations has no legal authority and right to adopt another resolution apart from putting into effect the Boundary Commission's ruling on border delimitation and compelling its implementation, the Council's resolution is illegal both in word and spirit. Declaring that the Government of Eritrea is not prepared to get engulfed in a series of recriminations, and as the United Nations is pursuing a strange path that is creating acute tension and conflict fraught with grave consequences, the UN is committing a crime for which it would bear historical responsibility. Hence, the Eritrean Government draws timely attention that Eritrea bears no responsibility for any possible dangerous consequences.   =============================================================================   Copyright © 2005 Shabait.com.
