Visiting Mayor Slams West On Genocide

The visiting Mayor of Roma Walter Veltroni has criticized the West for
reluctance during the 1994 Genocide.
Veltroni, whose delegation included 405 officials, said this November 27, while
visiting the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre. "The western countries did not
bother to intervene in Rwanda to put a halt to the massacre, instead they opted
to intervene in their own countries thus leaving the poor Rwandans die at the
hands of terrorists,"he said adding that such negligence should never be let to
happen again. He also vowed to continue supporting Rwanda in the areas of
social- economic development.
