[allAfrica.com] RDF for Training in Tanzania The New Times (Kigali) NEWS September 11, 2006 Posted to the web September 11, 2006 By Edwin Musoni Kigali Senior Rwandan military officers will start attending high-level military courses in Tanzania effective next year. This was announced on Thursday by the Chief of Training, Operation and Plans in RDF, Brigadier General Richard Rutatina,shortly after a 45-member delegation of military trainees from Tanzania's Monduli Commanding Staff College in Arusha, met President Paul Kagame at Village Urugwiro. The team, which was comprised of both senior Tanzanian soldiers and others from other Sub Sahara African countries, was led by Tanzanian-born Brigadier General F.N Ulomi. "It has been agreed that our officers will start to go for training at Monduli beginning withy next year," Rutatina told journalists. Said Gen. Ulomi: "Tanzania is a partner in the reconstruction of Rwanda, and we need to strengthen this partnership." Rwandan Military Spokesman Maj. Jill Rutaremara yesterday praised the offer. "Monduli (Commanding Staff College) is a highly-recognized military school, and we welcome the gesture. Rutaremara said the college is at the same level with other academies in several African countries where RDF officers have undergone military training, notably in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia. He could however not say whether the Tanzanian slots would be paid for. He however said that RDF pays for some of the trainings to its officers and men outside the country. The college does not only offer military courses but a wide-range of political and socio-economic lessons, he said.
