[allAfrica.com] Anti Rally Foreign Forces Fumes in Baidoa Shabelle Media Network (Mogadishu) NEWS September 15, 2006 Posted to the web September 15, 2006 By Hassan Kalkata Mogadishu A mass demonstration against foreign troops deployment in Bay region have taken place in Baidoa, the provincial capital of Bay region , the base of the weak transitional federal government on Friday. Hundreds of people took the streets of Baidoa after Friday prayer in protest of the decision by the African Union on sending African peace keeping troops to Somalia, The demonstrators were chanting anti foreign forces deployment in Baidoa. They were also shouting Allah is great, no foreign troops on our soil, Todays rally said to be staged by pro-Islamists clerics in Baidoa town. The police in Baidoa city have fired live ammunition in the air to disperse the demonstrators. The police and chased the marchers arresting at least six of them. The police tightened the security to prevent further violence and put the situation under control. The newly installed local authority in the city ordered the police to capture and arrest any one with white turban those believed to part of the demonstrators.
