[allAfrica.com] Islamic Courts Threaten Seizing Kismayu, A Regional Town in South Shabelle Media Network (Mogadishu) NEWS September 18, 2006 Posted to the web September 19, 2006 By Aweys Osman Yusuf Mogadishu Somalia's Islamic Courts senior security official Sheik Yusuf Indho-Adde told Shabelle Radio in Mogadishu on Monday that the Islamic Courts will clutch Kismayu, the provincial town of Lower Jubba 500 km south of the capital Mogadishu. "The Islamic Courts will not be guests for Kismayu authority because Barre Hirale (the somali government defense minister in control of Kismayu) and Abdulahi Yusuf (the Somali president) are not the natives of Kismayu", Indho- Adde said. The Islamist also indicated that Kismayu inhabitants are peace-loving community and therefore should acquire the Shara'ih law, adding that the current Jubba Valley Alliance in control of Kismayu was member of the crushed Anti-terror Coalition kicked out of the capital Mogadishu. "The Islamic Courts do not negotiate with Barre Hirale or me over who will administrate Kismayu", said Indho-Adde, alleging he and Barre Hirale are united against Ethiopia but would break up if Barre Hirale befriended Ethiopia. Kismayu Somalia's third largest city has lately been a controversial town for the alliance running the provincial town disagreed up on the transfer of power to Islamic Courts.
