allAfrica.com * Don't Test Our Will, JTF Warns Militants This Day (Lagos) NEWS 10 January 2008 Posted to the web 10 January 2008 By Ahamefula Ogbu Port Harcourt Military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Rivers State, has warned that it was ready to respond to and repel any attack by any militant group. This is in reaction to threats by the militants, that they were going to attack military installations in the region. Spokesperson of the Task Force, Lt. Colonel Musa Sagir, said though he was yet to receive any notice of threat, the JTF was ready to discharge its duties responsibly, and would not take it lying low with any group which tries to disrupt peace. "Let me use this opportunity to warn miscreants not to try to test the will of JTF Operation Flush III. We are responsible, disciplined fighting force that strikes when and where necessary, as a last resort only. "Media reports should stop glorifying murderers, champions of lawlessness, but should focus and highlight more on their nefarious activities," he said. There were rumours that militants were planning a major attack on oil installations in the region, after successfully attacking Agip facility in Bayelsa State. The group, led by a notorious militant leader that isalways seen around government house in Bayelsa State, allegedly held a meeting at the weekend in Oporoma,from where they plan to take off at a yet to bedetermined date, for the said attack. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright © 2008 This Day.
