allAfrica.com * IOPCF Want Militants Bombing Up Flow Station Prosecuted Vanguard (Lagos) NEWS 10 January 2008 Posted to the web 11 January 2008 By Emma Arubi Lagos THE Izon Ebe Oil Producing Communities Forum (I.O.P.C.F) yesterday called for the prosecution of the militants who blew up the AGIP Beniboye flow station and SPDC water disposal pipeline in Burutu Council Area of Delta State, saying that they are criminals and hoodlums that are not protected by the law. The forum condemned the adoption of violence to press home any demand, noting that, "It does not reflect the true struggle of environmental, economic and infrastruc-tural emancipation of the region by committed and principled agitators who has laid down their arms in compliance with the Presidency seize-fire accord." The I O P C F in a statement signed by its president, Chief Sapele Bolougbene and Secretary, Mr. Lucky Izuokumor, in Warri, maintained that while they were not in support of any emission of waste into their environment by any oil multinational that destroy aquatic and human lives, they said the alleged act of oil installation vandalism is counter productive and intended to frustrate the true and just struggle for the emancipation of the region by the genuine freedom fighters. While describing these vandals as "enemies of the region masquerading as freedom fighters", they called on oil producing communities in the riverine areas and all true Niger Deltans to rise up to the challenge and fish out these "miscreants, vandals of oil facilities and kidnappers to redeem the image of the region." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright © 2008 Vanguard.
