By Nadeem Shaker, IOL Afghanistan Correspondent

KHOST, Afghanistan, October 7 (IslamOnline) – On Friday, October 4, IslamOnline received a list of the names of 57 members of Al-Qaeda, detained in Guantanamo, Cuba, most of them Arab nationals, especially Saudi and Yemeni.

The list, written in English, was distributed by Al-Qaeda, or supporters of Al-Qaeda, in the city of Khost, south east Afghanistan and IslamOnline received a copy.

The names include 17 Yemeni, 14 Saudi, 7 Moroccans, 4 Kuwaitis and 2 from each of the following nationalities: Bahraini, Algerian, Afghani, French and one from each of the following nationalities: Sudanese, Egyptian, Iraqi, Bangladeshi, African, Spanish and Pakistani.

The detained entered the Pakistani province of Karam Egency, in December 2001, after the Al-Qaeda stations in Tora Bora were struck heavily by American forces.

Pakistani forces arrested a few of them after clashing in the area of Barinjar on the Afghani borders. A few were killed a few fled in those clashes.

Pakistan after that transferred the detainees to the district jail of Kohat and gave them to American forces on January 2002 who ultimately transferred them to Guantanamo.

It is still not clear if these names are real or fake or issued by a Pakistani official agency and leaked to Taliban and Al-Qaeda supporters.

The American force now detains more than 500 Taliban and Al-Qaeda members ever since January 2002 and are trying to get information on any future plans to attack U.S. targets but none have been tried or charged with any crime.
