NABLUS,
September 28 (IslamOnline.net) – Since the outbreak of Al-Aqsa
Intifada on September 28, 2000, the Arab Israelis or the Palestinians
of 1948 have been subject to different forms of Israeli discriminatory
practices to break their solidarity with their fellowmen in the
occupied Palestinian territories.
Having
their houses also demolished, killed in indiscriminate Israeli raids,
the Arab Israelis renewed their support for the Palestinian cause in
the fourth anniversary of the praiseworthy Intifada and determination
to defend their homeland until they breathe their last.
“Israel
keeps on sending Arab Israelis into exile and adopting discriminatory
measures against them,” Ahmad Al-Tibi, leader of the Democratic
Front for Change and Equality told IslamOnline.net.
He
said the “racist” Israeli policy manifested itself in the 2000
shooting of Arab Israeli demonstrators in Al-Jalil Al-Ala area as they
were launching their mini-Intifada in solidarity with their brothers
in the occupied territories, killing 13 demonstrators.
He
said the Israeli government now considers the Arab Israelis as its
enemies.
“No
action was taken against the Israeli policemen who fired at the
demonstrators, but rather the Israeli government says we deal with you
[Arab Israelis] as enemies who must be suppressed and discriminated in
all political, economic and social fields.”
Add
to the discriminatory measures, Tibi added, Israeli authorities have
deprived 20 Arab villages from economic and development projects
despite the towering unemployment rates which hit 90%.
Tibi
said such abhorrent practices have been on the rise since the outbreak
of Al-Aqsa Intifada.
He
further added the Arab Israelis will launch on October 1 a general
strike in all Palestinian cities annexed and occupied by Israel to
commemorate the fourth anniversary of the Palestinian Intifada.

soldiers clash with Palestinians protesting the construction of
the separation wall

Tibi
said Israel's construction of the separation wall had disunited the
Arab Israelis and their relatives and beloved ones in the occupied
Palestinian territories.
“The
Israeli racial practices against the Arab Israelis were mostly
manifested in the construction of a West Bank separation wall which
helped break the social, economic and political ties between the
Palestinians living inside or outside the Green Line.
“There
were many Palestinian families in the 1948 lands who were deprived
from communicating with their relatives in the West Bank and the Gaza
Strip not to mention sluggish economic performance. It is simply an
attempt to isolate the Arab Israelis from the Palestinian people.”
Tibi
said the Arab Israelis, along with the Palestinians in the occupied
territories, will launch several protests to thwart the racial Israeli
schemes.
The
ICJ, the United Nation's highest legal body, ruled on July 9 that the
700-kilometer (435-mile) separation wall violated
international law.
The
verdict stipulated that those sections of the barrier constructed on
occupied Palestinian territories should be torn down and Israel should
compensate Palestinians for the damages caused.
Obstacle
to Charity
Tawfiq
Mohammed, editor-in chief of Sawt Al-Haq and Al-Hureya newspaper and
spokesman for the Islamic Movement in what is now Israel, said since
the outbreak of Al-Aqsa Intifada, Israel has been trying to hamper the
humanitarian activities of the Islamic Movement.
He
said the Islamic Movement's role is to defend the Islamic sanctities
and the Palestinian heritage as well as providing the Palestinian
people with much-needed humanitarian aid.
“The
Islamic Movement has been providing the Palestinians with social,
medical and health services. There are no Arab hospitals in the 1948
lands and the Arab Israelis are deprived from most public services.”
Tawfiq
noted that several charities have been formed to set up development
and reconstruction projects for the Palestinians in the occupied
territories in addition to restoration works for Al-Aqsa mosque,
Islam’s third holies site.
