U.S. Convoy Attacked
CHAMAN (AZZAM): A pamphlet was distributed in southern Afghanistan
containing a message from the leader of the Taliban, Mullah Muhammad
Umar Mujahid. It urged all Muslims across the world and commanders of
the Taliban movement to continue their Jihad against the occupying
Crusaders, stressing that it was a religious duty to do so.
Mullah Umar stated that Muslims should end the activities of American agents in Afghanistan.
He went onto elaborate that it was in fact an Islamic duty of Muslims
to identify such spies, then inform the Taliban Mujahideen so that
these filthy traitors may be dealt with in the appropriate manner.
Mullah Umar expressed appeciation at the unity of the Mujahideen who have remained steadfast despite several set-backs.
The message was released by the spokesman for the Mujahideen, Momin.
U.S. Convoy Attacked
PAKTIA
(AZZAM): On the 24th of September a US military convoy was ambushed in
the Zadran region of Paktia. Using missiles and heavy machine gun fire
two military vehicles were totally destroyed killing all the US marines on-board.
The
exact number of US casualties has not been disclosed, however
eyewitness reports state that seven soldiers were travelling in each
vehicle, as both were completely destroyed with no survivors, it is
likely that 14 American soldiers were killed.
American Forces Arrest Afghan Police Commander For Following Same Policy As in Camp Delta
KHOST
(AZZAM): As yet another example of the lawlessness that seems to grip
any land that American forces invade, an official Afghan police
commnder of Khost, Abdul Shakoor was arrested along with three of his
aides after a house raid. Abdul Shakoor is charged with imprisoning
between 30-40 people without charge, or trial. This has been going on
for some time, and the American forces only did something once
complaints from local residents became relentless. This hesitancy on
the American part is perhaps because the American forces felt it would
be hypocritical of them to criticise anyone for imprisoning people
indefinately without charge or trial, given Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The Police Commander would only release prisoners who were able to pay their ransom.
Fresh U.S. Troops Arrive
KABUL (AZZAM): Fresh US troops have replaced US soldiers already present in Khost, who then returned to Kabul.
U.S. Military Spokesman Admits American Bases Under Fire

He stated that in all 10 rockets had been fired, with two hitting the US base near Asadabad in Kunar province, whilst eight hit the US base in the Shikeen region. However, the US military spokesman refused to provide details of any casualties sustained.
American Led Operation Backfires
NORTH WAZIRISTAN (AZZAM): At 18.00 on Saturday, September 20, 2003
an American led operation to find and destroy Taliban and Al-Qaida
Mujahideen backfired as 15 Coalition soldiers were killed by the
Mujahideen. The Coalition operation was taking place in the mountains
of Mangal Khail, where Commander Saif-ur-Rahman (son of Maulvi Mansoor)
led the Mujahideen units to a memorable victory.
The American
led operation contained a large number of soldiers supported by 12
military vehicles and 5 APCs. Despite this, the Mujahideen armed with
rockets mounted a sudden a precise attack on the Coalition forces
killing at least 15, injurind dozens and also managing to destroy a US military tank and vehicle.
As
soon as the US HQ in Gardez heard of he casualties, it ordered US
warplanes and gunships to relentlessly bomb the Mangal Khail mountains,
which it did all of Saturday night. The Mujahideen escaped from the
area, and we have no reports of any Mujahideen casualties.
Five Coalition soldiers were also taken as prisoners by the Mujahideen. Their identities are not yet known.
Mujahideen Free 40 Companions from Karzai Government Custody
PESHAWAR
(AZZAM): Taliban succeeded in freeing 40 of their mujahid brothers from
the prisons of Karzai government in an exchange of 20 Afghan troops.
Afghan educational minister Yunus Qanooni's father-in-law and Defence
minister General Qasim Faheem's relatives were among those held by
mujahideen. These 20 Afghan militia troops were kidnapped by mujahideen
from the south of Kandahar.
Mujahideen sent a warning via governor Kandahar Yusuf Pashtun to Karzai
government that if 40 of their mujahid brothers would not be released
in 48 hours, then they would shoot these 20 troops of the Afghan
militia. Sources also disclosed that three high rank military officers
namely General Sabhargul, General Biyan and General Malik of the Afghan
militia were also among the captives. Karzai government reacted
positively to the warning and sent 40 mujahideen along with an official
delegation to Kandahar. A difficult mountainous terrain in Kandahar
was selected for this purpose. Till last reports arrived in the press,
all 40 mujahideen have been handed over to mujahideen sources in
exchange of 20 Afghan troops. The spokesman for Hamid Karzai, Dr.
Salman Ahmed Zai condemned Karzai government at the action. He added
that this will boost the confidence of the rebels and they will put up
more challenging demands in the future.
