On January 2, the outskirts of the settlement Serjen-Yurt in Shalinski region of Chechnya were being volleyed again. Artillery gunning started at 3.45 in the morning and continued for 15 minutes. The massive fire was directed to the territory of the former pioneer camps on the opposite riverside of the Khoulkhulo River.

According to the human rights protectors. On January 4, 2005 the puppet organizations of Ramzan Kadyrov together with Russian occupiers carried out large-scale punitive “cleanings” in the settlements Valerik and Kotai-Yurt in Achkhoi-Martanovski region of Chechnya, so as several inhabitants of these settlements were detained. During the day, both settlements were totally blocked.

It is reported that the punitive action of Russian occupiers and of “kadyrovtsy” was caused by the quasi-obtained information that the president of CRI Aslan Maskhadov had spent the previous night in the settlement Valerik. During the “clearance” five or six local inhabitants were detained. In the settlement Katyr-Yurt twelve persons were detained during the “clearance”.

Russian chasteners, who carried the „clearances“ in the houses of the settlement Valerik inhabitants, looked extremely tired. They complained, they had not eaten anything for two days. Many of them got some meal only in the houses where they were carrying out the “clearances”, because people were afraid to say no to the occupiers, who attacked the settlement.
