Who ever listens to Dr Blix?
The
occupation of Iraq has coincided with a significant sidelining of Hans
Blix, a figure who was so central to events prior to the toppling of
Saddam. Dr Blix was unable, or perhaps unwilling, to provide the Bush
administration with the pretext to invade Iraq. His credibility in the
eyes of the Bush administration is now non-existent.
Recently Hans Blix has said he is convinced Iraq destroyed its WMD 10
years ago. He pointed to the shifting of lines by those who claimed
that war was fought to disarm Saddam,
"In the beginning they talked about weapons concretely, and later on
they talked about weapons programs...maybe they'll find some documents
of interest,"
It is interesting to note that one of Blix's
final pleas, which fell on deaf ears just before the first bombs fell
on Iraq, was to allow the inspectors more time. The Bush
administration retorted that Saddam had been given ample time to comply
which he had failed to do. It was said that time is something that the
region does not have. Blix usually took around three quarters of an
hour to report his team's findings to the security council in the run
up to the war. Yet 45 minutes was touted as the time Iraq could deploy
weapons, something which Blair's dodgy dossier claimed inaccurately.
Time was denied to Blix, and so was his request to reinstate weapons
inspectors following Iraq's occupation. Instead, the Iraqi survey
group (ISG) was born, and it has made in America written all over it.
The ISG is being given time, yet miracles are not one its fortes. That
is regardless of how much time they are given. It is impossible to
magic together evidence of WMD, otherwise David Blain would have been
kidnapped from his perspex box above the Thames to oversee the process.
Blix also explained why he believed Saddam's regime had continued the pretence that it possessed WMD.
"You can put up a sign on your door, beware of the dog, without having a dog." Yet the signs failed even to keep the dogs out.
The ISG reported this week on its findings or absence of any findings. The head
of the ISG, David Kay said that he could not conclude there were or weren't WMD,
but they hadn't found any in actuality, this doesn't there weren't any to start
off with, but they cannot be found at this present time. It seems that the
tactic adopted by the ISG/US-UK cabal is to bore us with inconsequential
psychobabble! Yet a leak to The Guardian newspaper (UK) by a "US Intelligence source" revealed
prior to the unveiling of the ISG that the report would be concluding "the
main judgments of the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) in October
2002, that Saddam had hundreds of tonnes of chemical and biological
agents ready, are false". If the NIE were re-named Local
Intelligence Estimate, its acronym would spell out the true extent of
its claims. It claimed, in short, that Iraq possesses WMD, and in
addition that it was months away from manufacturing a nuclear weapon if
it got hold of weapons-grade fissile material.
Journalist
Andrew Neil revealed that a ‘Bush administration' source revealed to
him that the ISG report would conclude that they have been unsuccessful
in the quest for WMD. A US soldier involved in the work of the ISG
told AP, "What we expected was nasty stuff…Exactly the pictures they
painted on CNN and all the networks - nerve agents... I had just come
out of school. I was inexperienced, if we found the weapons, it would
have been good to be part of the group that found the evidence... I
don't know what to think anymore."
CIA
director George Tenet speaking on August 11 attacked those who he
claimed were twisting the facts (something he has had considerable
experience in), "We stand behind the judgments of the NIE as well as our analyses
on Iraq's programs over the past decade. Those outside the process over
the past 10 years and many of those commenting today do not know, or
are misrepresenting, the facts."
Maybe
he should read the state department's webpage. Here he would find
remarks that Secretary of State Colin Powell made February 24, 2001 in
Egypt. I have pasted the URL to save him some time and effort - http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2001/933.htm
"…the
Foreign Minister and I and the President and I, had a good discussion
about the nature of the sanctions -- the fact that the sanctions exist
-- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose
of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing
weapons of mass destruction. We should constantly be reviewing our
policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that
they are directed toward that purpose. That purpose is every bit as
important now as it was ten years ago when we began it. And frankly
they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with
respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project
conventional power against his neighbors."
What happened between February 24, 2001 and that first Tomahawk missile strike of Baghdad March 20, 2003?
Maybe it is time that the US
government took Bruce Willis up on his offer to smoke out Saddam and get to the
WMD!
The only Weapons of Mass Destruction that exist in the world today are
the very thoughts which underpin Western Civilisation. It is the ideas
of Capitalism which penetrate the actions of these deceitful
politicians and self-serving governments. They do not protect the
interests of the British people or the American people. They act as
agents of the minority who benefit from the Capitalist system, those
who milk the aftermath of war, of the corporations and the elites. It
is time for the world to wake up from this nightmare that has been
created by Capitalism.
It is now up to the Muslims to sound the wake up call to the world by
unleashing the lost breed of politician which only an Islamic state can
deliver. One which is motivated by a profound desire to govern the
people according to that which the Creator has ordained for humanity to
observe. It is only by the Khilafah that the lies and deceit of the
likes of Bush and Blair will be vanquished. The future of the world is
in your hands.
